'Best Places to visit in Ghatshila Jharkhand' Ghatshila or Ghatsila is a town situated in the East Singhbhum district of Jharkhand. It is 45 km from Jamshedpur and 240 KM from Kolkata. The town is surrounded by forests and hills. Subarnarekha River flows through the town. Ghatshila is also rich in natural minerals, Asia’s first copper mine was found here.

HOW TO REACH GHATSHILA

Ghatshila is well connected by Railways and roads. Ghatshila Rail station is one of the busy rail stations of the Southeastern line.

  • Ghatshila By Rail: From Howrah, there is Ispat Express in the morning at 6:35 AM (Times may change), which runs every day, also from Tata Nagar is one or two stops, and many trains are available throughout the day.
  • Ghatshila By Road: Jamshedpur is around 50 KM from Ghatshila which can take 1.5 hours by car and from Kolkata it’s 240 KM which can take around 5 hours by car. From Jamshedpur buses are available but from Kolkata currently, no direct bus is available. The train is the best option from Kolkata if you are using public transport.

There is a lot to see in Ghatshila, the town is surrounded by Lakes, Hills, and forests, one can book an Auto Rikshaw from Ghatshila Station and cover all the tourist places.

  1. RANKINI TEMPLE: Devi Kali is worshiped here as Rankini Devi. You will see colorful curving of Hindu Gods and Goddesses on the walls of this temple. 2 KM from Ghatshila Station.
  2. BIBHUTI BHUSN BANDHYOPADHYAY HOUSE: This is the house of a famous Bengali Author and Novelist. 1.5 KM from Ghatshila Station.
  3. RAATMOHONA RIVER FALLS / GHATSHILA FALLS: This is an artificial fall, this is situated on the river bed of Subernarekha River behind HCL, the old and new Subarnarekha bridge makes the view awesome. 4 KM from Ghatshila Station.
  4. SUBARNAREKHA RIVER: This river originates from Chota Nagpur Plateau passes through Ghatshila, Bengal, and Odisha, and ends up in the Bay of Bengal. The existence of this river makes Ghatshila so famous. You can enjoy memorizing the sunset from here. 3.5 KM from Ghatshila Station.
  5. SUBARNAREKHA OLD AND NEW BRIDGE: This was built during the British period and it’s not in good condition now, another new bridge is constructed and both bridges make the sunset view more charming. 4 KM from Ghatshila Station.
  6. FULDUNGRI HILLS: If you are interested in a small jungle trek then you can visit this place, nothing much to see here. 5.6 KM from Ghatshila Station.
  7. BURUDI LAKE AND BURUDI DAM: This place offer an awesome scenic view, the lake is surrounded by hills which makes this place very scenic and one of the most visited places in Ghatdhila. The place is clean less crowded, and there are lakeside dhabas selling fresh breakfast and lunch. Boating options are also available here. 12 KM from Ghatshila Station.
  8. DHARAGIRI FALLS: The nearest car parking is 7-8 mins away from the fall, to reach this fall you have to walk through the jungle. A very quiet place, with lots of birds crimping, this small trek to Dharagiri Falls will make your soul refreshed. This is a small fall you might see a string of water falling, and you can see the normal behavior of this fall during a monsoon. 16 KM from Ghatshila Station.
  9. GALUDIH BARRAGE / DAM: This dam is built on the River Subernarekha. This is a huge dam and you can take a walk through this dam. During the monsoon the river is full and the view is awesome. 13 KM from Ghatshila Station.
  10. GHATSHILA SIDDHESWAR MANDIR: This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is located on the hilltop. To reach you have to walk uphill for about 15-20 mins. The panoramic view from the top is very beautiful, you will get a birds-eye view of the surrounding areas from here. This place is not recommended for senior citizens or someone having breathing difficulties. 13 KM from Ghatshila Station.

Day 1: Try to take the morning train, reach early and check in to the hotel, take some rest, freshen up and have early lunch, then book an Auto Rikshaw for sightseeing at Burudi Lake and Dharagiri Falls and then at an evening spend the time near Raatmonona, enjoy the sunset sitting by Subarnarekha river.

Day 2: Wake up early morning, have breakfast then book an Auto and go sightseeing, visit Galudih,  Sidheswar temple, Rankini Temple, and Bibuti Bushan House. You can have lunch during sightseeing, then come back to the hotel and take some rest and take the evening train to return.

The best time to visit Ghatshila is after the monsoon and during winter, after monsoon the forests are in their fully green and the waterfalls look beautiful also the lakes are full of water, and also during winter boating happens in Burudi lake, one can also go during monsoon but in summers are very hot and humid also the Lakes are dry and waterfalls also don't look good.
