WHAT TO SEE AT MURSHIDABAD

  1. Hazarduari Palace: Hazarduari (1000 Doors): The most visited site in Murshidabad, it’s the primary attraction. The 3-floor palace was built by Duncan McLeod in 1837 in the reign of Nawab Najim Humayun Jah. This building is now maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India. The Museum inside have around 114 palatial rooms and 8 galleries showcasing rare oil painting, a collection of old armory, manuscripts, ivory, and many more.
  2. Nizamat Imambara: It is the largest Imambara in Bengal, it was built in 1847 by Nawab Nazim Mansoor Ali Khan Feradun Jah. It’s located just opposite Hazarduari Palace. In this compound, you can see Yellow Mosque and Madina Mosque.
  3. MotiJheel: It’s a park built by the horseshoe-shaped Lake, it’s well maintained and you can spend quality time with friends and family. A light show happens in the evening which narrates the history of Murshidabad with the help of lights.

HOW TO REACH MURSHIDABAD

Murshidabad can be reached by Car and Train. The distance from Kolkata is about 200 Km. One can reach Murshidabad from Kolkata via NH12 or NH34, regular bus service is also available from Esplanade Kolkata.

Murshidabad can be reached by train from Sealdah and Kolkata station, boarding Hazarduari Express or Lalgola Special, it takes around 4 hrs to reach by train.

BEST TIME TO VISIT: Murshidabad can be visited throughout the year but winters are the best as the summer are very hot.
