'Tourist Places to visit in Pelling' Pelling is a small hill town in the Indian state of Sikkim, at the foothills of Mount Khangchendzonga. Pelling is famous for its beautiful natural landscape, Monasteries and Temples, cultural heritage, and excellent view of Mt. Kanchenjunga. Pelling is located at a height of 2,151 m (7,200 feet). Once Pelling was the 2nd capital of Sikkim from the year 1670 to 1814.

Pelling has a lot to see which includes the monasteries, bridges, waterfalls, and palace ruins. Popular tourist spots of Pelling are as follows:

  1. RABDENTSE RUINS PELLING: Rabdentse was the 2nd capital of Sikkim from 1670 to 1814. This place is 2 kilometers from the Pemayangtse Monastery, the Gurkha army destroyed this place and now only the ruins of the palace and the chortens remain. The main spot is protected by the Archeological Survey of India, you can see Rabdentse Palace Ruins by doing a 20-25 mins trek through the Jungles, and you can enjoy the trek through the jungle where you can see & hear the sound of beautiful birds.
  2. PEMAYANGTSE MONASTERY: This is one of the oldest Monasteries in Pelling Sikkim, this Monastery was founded by Lama Lhatsun Chempo in 1647.
  3. DARAP VILLAGE: Darap is a small village about 13 km from Pelling, mostly the people of the Limboo tribe lives.
  4. KHECHEOPARLI LAKE: Khecheopalri Lake is also called as Kha-Chot-Palri locally which means heaven of Padmasambhava. The lake is located near Khecheopalri village, 25 KM away from Pelling. The beautiful lake is believed to be a sacred place for both Buddhists and Hindus and is believed to be a wish-fulfilling lake.
  5. KANCHENJUNGA WATERFALLS: Kanchenjunga Falls is a beautiful waterfall in Pelling and one of the most visited tourist attractions of Pelling, its believed to be originated high up in Mount Kanchenjunga,
  6. RIMBI ORANGE GARDEN: Situated 5 km away from Darap village towards Khecheopalri lake is the Rimbi Orange Garden, here you will see Orange Trees along with cardamom plants. Visitors also can enjoy the river flowing through and also can sit on the rocks beside the rivers and can spend some quality time.
  7. RIMBI WATERFALL: This waterfall is just a few meters away from Rimbi Garden, this is one of the famous waterfalls in Pelling, the waterfall is formed over the Rimbi River.
  8. PELLING SKYWALK / PELLING GLASS BRIDGE: India’s first glass skywalk, located at a height of 7,200 feet, Pelling Skywalk is 2.5 km from Pelling. This place has a large courtyard with a monastery on top of the mountain and the world’s tallest statue of Chenrezig which is 137 feet high. The Skywalk is surrounded by the beautiful Himalayas.
  9. CHANGEY FALLS / CHANGEY WATERFALLS: This is another beautiful waterfall which is situated on Pelling – Dentam Road in Pelling, this waterfall is 9 km away from Pelling. This waterfall emerges from dense greenery falling from a height of about 300 feet, one can walk uphill to visit the waterfall closely, there are stairs that will take 20 mins to reach.
  10. UPPER PELLING HELIPAD GROUND: This is a helipad located in Pelling, this is an open space where you will get a 360° view of the Himalayas.
  11. GYALSHING / GEYZING: Geyzing is the capital of the district of West Sikkim in the Indian state of Sikkim, this place is well connected with Gangtok, Darjeeling, Kalimpong via Jorethang. It’s 9 Km away from Pelling. There are many Hotels and Restaurants in Geyzing, also it has a big and busy marketplace also one can get a shared cab stand.
  12. SINGSHORE BRIDGE PELLING: Singshore Bridge is located at a distance of 26 km from Pelling. The bridge is 100 m high and 240 m in length, this is the highest bridge in Sikkim and the second-highest bridge in Asia.
  13. SANGA CHOELING MONASTERY: The Sanga Choeling Monastery was established in the 17th century by Lama Lhatsun Chempo, this is one of the oldest monasteries of Sikkim.

HOW TO REACH PELLING FROM SILIGURI

By Sharing: Share cab and bus available from Siliguri SNT Stand, share cab will take Rs 800 and the bus will take Rs 250. A shared cab will take around 5-6 Hrs to reach Pelling from Siliguri. Shared cabs are not available from NJP.

Reserve Cab: Reserve small cab will charge around Rs 4000 and SUV will charge around Rs 5000 directly from NJP if you want to go via Namchi & Ravangla it will charge around Rs 6000.

  • Distance from Gangtok to Pelling Via Ravangla is 112 KM / 5-4 Hrs
