'Ravangla Buddha Park and Namchi Chardham Sikkim' Ravangla and Namchi, are two popular tourist spots in South Sikkim and both are very religious places among Hindus and Buddhists.

RAVANGLA BUDDHA PARK SIKKIM

ABOUT RAVANGLA: Ravangla is a small hill town located in South Sikkim, at a height of 8000 Feet, it falls between Gangtok and Pelling, and is well connected with both places. Here you can see different birds and many flowers like orchids and rhododendron. The primary tourist attraction of Ravangla is Buddha Park.

HOW TO REACH RAVANGLA

Ravangla distance from different Places

  • From Siliguri to Ravangla via Namchi is 116 KM, which takes 4 Hrs.
  • From Pelling to Ravangla via Geyzing is 48 KM, and takes 2 Hrs
  • From Gangtok to Ravangla is 63 Km, and takes 2.5 Hrs
  • From Jorthang to Ravangla is 46 Km, and takes 1.5 Hrs
  • From Namchi to Ravangla is 24 Km, and takes 45 Mins

Gangtok shared jeeps are available from Pelling Taxi Stand at Gangtok. Also, one can book a reserved cab for a round trip or drop by Pelling and on the way visit Ravangla.

From Pelling there is no shared cab service to Ravangla, you need to go to Geyzing, and there you can get a shared cab for Ravangla.

From Siliguri shared cabs and buses are available from the SNT stand, from NJP or Bagdogra no share cab is not available you can reserve a can which will take around Rs 3500 - 4000, for a drop to Ravangla.

The primary attraction of Ravangla is Buddha Park Ravangla. The Buddha Park is located 1 Km away from Main Ravangla Town.

Here you will see a 130 Feet high Buddha statue, the statue is built with 60 tons of Copper, below the Gautam Buddha Statue, there is a Monastery and Museum which shows the journey and work of Buddha. This place is a large religious complex that is a part of Rabong Monastery, which is a very old pilgrimage place also near to this place is Ralang Monastery which is an important Monastery in the Buddhist religion.

ABOUT NAMCHI: Namchi is a town located in South Sikkim. Namchi Char Dham is a big pilgrimage complex, it was developed by Govt of Sikkim, and the purpose is to promote Religious Tourism in Namchi. The budget was over 56 Crore and the entire complex is spread across 29 Hectares, the place where Char Dham is located is known as Solophok Hills.

This complex is also known as Siddheswar Dham, this place is located about 5 Km away from Namchi Town.

WHERE TO STAY IN NAMCHI

For people who want to stay near the temple for them, Yatri Niwas is available, before entering the temple complex it will be on your left, this is a vegetarian mediocre hotel with 90 rooms.

There is an open paid car parking area, and from there you need to walk, a battery cart is also available for mobility-challenged people.

WHAT TO SEE AT NAMCHI CHARDHAM / TOURIST SPOT OF NAMCHI

The ticket price for Namchi Char Dham is Rs 50 and the timing is from 7 AM to 8 PM. 

Once you enter, you will see a large hall where miniature versions of all the Dham and idols are kept. after this, you need to take off your shoes and keep them in the designated area and then enter the main complex.

After you enter the main area the first thing you will see is the statue of Lord Shiva on the left. Wherever you go inside the complex you will see this statue, which is the main attraction of Namchi Char Dham.

The main Shiva Temple is 108 ft high and on top sits the 87 ft tall statue of Lord Shiva in a sitting position facing East.

Surrounding the Lord Shiva Statue you will see 12 Jyotirlingam and along with this, you will see the replicas of char Dham which are Badrinath Dham, Jagannath Dham, Dwarka Dham, and Rameshwar Dham. Opposite Lord Shiva Statue at the far end, you will see the statue of Kirateshwar, who is worshiped by locals with belief that his help can bring peace and prosperity, another important temple here is Sai Baba Temple. Other than that there is also a cafeteria available in the compound.
